We have no sun … but we have spirit! So we had a braai (bbq). And it was a huge success.

Now I can just imagine my English countrymen thinking: “What does she mean by a successful braai? Isn’t a braai just making a fire, chucking some meat on it, and eating it carbonised?”

But no, a successful braai is:

• A perfect fire – right amount of coals a the right temperature
• Well chosen ingredients. In our case, it often includes salmon
• Meat / fish cooked to perfection

Tonight we had salmon and chicken. (Bought from Marks and Spencer on their 3 for £10 offer). The salmon was so perfectly cooked it was literally melt in the mouth.
