Now I know one would expect me to have a long list of accomplishments for the month past, but I am afraid I don’t feel like I have any. I have been spending a lot of time on the treadmill of life, running at quite a pace, but without getting off the starting block.
It is not entirely true of course, but the successes were small ones. One was maintaining my sanity! Other highlights include receiving a £750 anonymous donation for our Charity, Children of Africa last week! We were thrilled. And once we get our tax rebate, we will be able to send over a substantial donation to the Lindelani fund (they have just started a blog themselveshttp://www.shalomfellowshipcommunitycare.blogspot.com/). They are really making a great difference in the community
The projects we are supporting:
– A crèche providing care for pre-school children. Many of these children live with their grandparents as their parents have died from AIDS. The crèche enables the, often sickly, grandparents some necessary rest as well as freeing up older children to go to school, as they are no longer responsible for their younger siblings.
– A baby centre was recently set up to provide a basic day care facility for working mothers in the settlement. For some of these babies, the alternative is to be left with brothers and sisters who are normally children themselves and who are then prevented from going to school.
– Improving Lindelani’s water supply. Only 3 taps used to provide the water for the whole of Lindelani. This is systematically being improved
For anyone who would like to make a donation, you can do it as follows:
