I have been dabbling with some painting. I think it started out when I was looking for some art for the house. A few things I saw … and I liked … I thought: I could do that! Whether I could or couldn’t was a different story

I had previously bought some paint and brushes etc etc, so I was ready to give it a whirl. The first few probaby weren’t good enough to go on the wall, but the more I practised, the better I got.
This is the first batch that made it to being framed and onto the wall. Tim didn’t like the subject matter for most of them, so I made a special ‘boyz one’ for him: cricket

I think this one is still my favourite:

And this one is probably a close second:

But then I got brave (synonym for stupid) and decided that I could do something on a grander scale. Up to then I had stuck to nothing much bigger than A4. But out shopping one day, I came across some 4ft canvasses on sale. Who could resist?
Tim didn’t think I would be able to scale my drawings. To be honest, I wasn’t so sure myself, but I knew I would never know unless I tried. I started by doing a little example of what I will paint to see whether Lisa (who it was for) would like it. She gave the thumbs up, so today I finally gave it a whirl.

This is the first work in progress …. taking shape, but doesn’t look like much yet.
However, the final product surprised even me. I am genuinely pleased with my first effort. The next one is more intricate (and thus scarier), so I am going to have to pluck together the courage to do it, but do it, I will!
(a) not working
(b) should be looking for a new job
(c) anxious about an interview tomorrow morning, but don’t want to think about it.
