I have had a number of requests for more pictures of the house. My battery was flat on my ‘good’ camera, so I have done the best I could on my ‘little’ camera. Not that good for lighting, but it will give you an idea. I guess it didn’t help that I was taking the pictures on the most grim, grey day. (Like most of our days have been this summer! Today is a whopping 17 degrees – the warmest in days!)
Above is my study. As is the same with the whole house, everything needs sorting out and I can’t find a thing, because everything was just ‘dumped’ into cupboards or drawers.
Left as you come in the main door is this little hallway which leadsto the study, utility room and store cupboard.

It was particularly difficult to take a good picture of the lounge as we rely soley on lamps. In fact, there isn’t a ceiling light in the whole room!
Combine that with the grim and grey day, and you struggle to balance the light because of the big windows, even using a flash. (The photographers amongst your will understand) Also, my ‘proper camera’ would have coped better …
The kitchen is just about finished. They still have to fiddle with some upstands on the granite and fix a kickboard after which the painter will give it a final lick of paint …
But I think all in all, what we have now is a very lived in space. We don’t keep it as a showroom (and couldn’t if we tried!) I really love spending time at home, because it is now just to comfortable.

But we love the kitchen. Next week Dave and Danielle are coming for dinner, and it will be the first entertaining (family doesn’t count! ) we will do using our new kitchen.
We have a nice huge clock to go on the bare wall above and the old ice cream sign (complete with bullet holes, I kid you not!) will go above the shelf (below)
The hallway below was also a bit dark due to the weather …
The mirrors, which are currently propped up against the walls, will be hung quite soon.
I think something that is quite evident althroughout the house is the lack of art. But don’t fear, we have a plan. I am trying to get hold of traditional picture rail hooks and bars to hang all the pictures. Currently we have:

8 framed old-fashioned post cards,
4 pictures I painted (temporary art!),
3 framed photographs
2 large mirrors
1 smaller mirror
.. all which needs to be hung.
Our en-suite bathroom only needs a set of doors, which my carpenter will be making in the near future. But I love it, I love it, I love it!
The shower is big enough to bath an entire family at the same time (if one had enough water pressure!)
The guest bedroom is currently just a mix of ‘left-overs’ from the rest of the house. The bed belongs to Lisa, but we’ll get to that eventually.
This is the sunniest room in the house, so I would like to put a chaise long in front of the window – perfect for reading and watching the world go by.
I have made use of ghost chairs in many of the rooms. Look at the picture above – you can barely see the chair on the photograph. I think if this chair could fit into my mother’s luggage, she would have nicked it!
