The last 2 days have been very busy. The carpets arrived yesterday, so we’re finally in the master bedroom! Obviously chaos still greets us everywhere in the house, but we are moving forward.

It hasn’t helped that my poor, darling husband is working around the clock. Because I am left to try and do it all. And at the moment, trying to juggle the house, preparing for my parents’ visit, working and looking for a job (this project is coming to an end) is leaving me dead on my feet. Tim got in from work last night at 2.15 am, so who am I to complain! My 5.45 am starts look feable in comparison.

But, hey, look! The room is almost livable. Not too long now and we’ll even have light bulbs in the chandelier!

The bathroom is taking shape. Unfortunately that isn’t going to be 100% ready for my parents next week, because Tom and Alan are off on holiday after tomorrow. But they hope to have the floor tiled at least, and I shall paint all the exposed wood to protect it from water.

It is amazing how much bigger the bathroom looks this way. We were planning to put in a shower, but we couldn’t come up with a good enough way to protect the shutters from water damage … Now guests will just have to use our bathroom if they need a shower.
The kitchen is close to finish. One more visit from the kitchen company to fix the final snags, and one from the granite chaps to put in the granite in the cavity above the cooker. Then we still have to move our dresser back in. But we’re hoping to put that on casters so we can move it about more easily …
And lastly, our pantry should have shelves in the next couple of days. We can then put away everything still in boxes

We just love the cooker. I have already made some homemade rusks. But I have nowhere to put them away, so they are still living in the oven!

It is so close. I cannot wait to really enjoy it all. And enjoy the journey of unpacking boxes and finding things we forgot we had!

Now everyone who owes us a visit can start planning one!
